About Me

My name is Megan Amara Rose, and I live in the Pacific Northwest in the beautiful and enchanted coastal town of Astoria, Oregon. I am a yoga teacher, writer, and public educator with a passion for the healing arts

I have been teaching yoga since 2017, when I earned my teacher certification while living in Nicaragua.  The emphasis of my training, my personal practice, and my teaching is rooted in the style of yoga called Ashtanga. You can read more about this type of yoga by checking out the blog section. I also teach a variety of other types of yoga and offer workshops depending on the unique needs of students and groups.  In addition to my yoga training, I am also clinically certified by HeartMath® Institute to teach mindfulness techniques addressing stress, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

In addition to blogging, I wrote my first book in 2019 after surviving a harrowing awakening. In my memoir, Volcano Baby, I detail what led up to the awakening and the immediate aftermath.  It is a raw, honest, and ultimately tender account of what led me to a life devoted to authentic self-expression and the healing arts. You can read my memoir, Volcano Baby free in the Book section of the website.

My formal education includes a master's degree in communication disorders and sciences from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree in human communication from Southern Oregon University. I have practiced speech-language pathology for over ten years, including working remotely as a therapist while living abroad in Nicaragua.

Certifications and degrees are important, but one thing that makes me unique, is how my offerings are grounded in my own lived experiences, which have included adversity, as well as profound healing.

In addition to enjoying yoga, writing, and studying mystical traditions, I love surfing, hiking, backpacking, gardening and anything that gets me outside in nature. I also enjoy rainy pacific northwest days staying home and being cozy. I look forward to connecting and learning more about you and what brought you here.
